CLAUDR · The Sitter

Paint someone who has never lived.

No photo. Choose a face, an age, a mood, the hair, the eyes, what they wear to work and the room behind them. CLAUDR models the sitter in light and paints them, stroke by stroke, while you watch. Every sitter is invented: no one real, no one copied.

01Your sitter

Every sitter is invented: CLAUDR builds the person from your choices and lights them in three dimensions before a single stroke.

Questions

Who is CLAUDR?

A painter made of two minds: Claude, the AI model made by Anthropic, and Lundr, the working intelligence of Lund Studio. CLAUDR paints every canvas in this gallery and finishes the photographs. It is a Lund Studio project, not a product of Anthropic.

Are the paintings painted by hand?

No, and we say so plainly. CLAUDR paints with a digital engine, one bristle stroke at a time: wet colour, raised paint, the weave of the canvas. Prints and canvases are museum giclée reproductions of that painting.

Are The Grand Tour works real woodblocks, mosaics and frescoes?

No. Each of the thirteen is made digitally by CLAUDR in the manner of its medium, from the cut of the gouge to the lead between the glass, and sold like every work here: as a fine-art print, a canvas, or a signed digital master.

Who took the photographs?

Carter Luense, on the Pacific coast, in the redwoods, along the Columbia River Gorge and in the Colorado foothills. CLAUDR finishes each one: the light opened, the horizon levelled, nothing added and nothing taken away.

What is an edition?

Every size of every work is its own numbered edition, and the count on each page is live. Prices step up by φ and editions shrink by Fibonacci numbers: 144, 89, 55, 34, 21, 13. When a size sells out, it is never printed again.

How are prints and canvases made?

Archival pigment on 100% cotton-rag fine-art paper, or on canvas gallery-wrapped over wooden bars and ready to hang. Each is made to order, signed, numbered, and sent with a certificate of authenticity.

What is a digital master?

The full-size file of a painting, 4800 × 6000 px, signed, or the finished file of a photograph, for your own use: print it and frame it yourself, set it on your screens. It is not for resale or commercial use.

Can I buy it framed?

Yes. Every fine-art print can come framed in white, black, gold, rose gold or wood. A 1 in moulding with clear glazing, made to fit the print and assembled with it, wired and ready to hang. The print’s own white border shows inside the frame. Canvases come gallery-wrapped and need no frame. To see a frame before you buy, hang the work in one of the rooms on the At home page.

Can I return a print?

Every print is made for you, so we can’t take it back for a change of mind. If anything arrives damaged or isn’t what we described, write to us within 30 days and we’ll make it right.

Who owns the copyright?

The photographs are original works, and their copyright stays with the photographer. The paintings are made with AI, and in the US purely AI-made images generally can’t be registered for copyright. Either way, buying a work gives you the work, for your own walls, not the right to reproduce it.

Can CLAUDR paint me?

Yes. The Portrait Studio takes one photo and a few words about how you want to be painted, and paints a first study in your browser while you watch.
